The Annals of African Surgery is the peer reviewed official journal of the Surgical Society of Kenya. The journal is the premier surgical read in the continent and is published twice annually. The journal is listed on African Journals Online (AJOL), Hinari, SCOPUS, EMBASE, Asian Digital Library (ADL) and Directorate of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

The Journal wishes to fill the following positions:

ASSISTANT EDITOR- (TWO (2) POSITIONS)

Reporting to the Associate Editor, the assistant editor is responsible for;

  1. Editorial workflow and logistics
  2. Ensuring an efficient Peer review process
  3. Sourcing, commissioning and writing of editorials
  4. Promoting the journal in all interactions
  5. Author and Reviewer recruitment and retention
  6. Adverts placement and soliciting for journal funding
  7. Any other roles as assigned by the associate editor or the editor in chief

The ideal candidate:

1. Will be a Surgeon or trainee surgeon in the following disciplines

  • Peadiatric Surgery
  • Urology
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Otolaryngology (Ear, nose and throat surgery)
  • Cardiac and thoracic surgery

2. Must show interest in research and publishing with at least two (2) articles in peer reviewed journals

3. Have good command of the English language

4. Will dedicate four (4) hours weekly for journal work
